Her leg deformity became very apparent.

After her initial grooming, we saw how thin she was and we could tell she was in pain

This is what our Cinderella looked like when she was found on the streets of Stamford CT.

Under all that hair was a very thin 7 lb dog.

She is only about a year old.

A Cinderella Story

Thanks to those that watch the shelter sites of new dogs coming in, we were called to see if a dog named Cinderella  might be a candidate for our help.

Cinderella was found on the streets of Stamford, CT in horrible shape, hair wise, and with a very unnatural gait. Once she was shaved there was evidence that there was a real problem with her left leg. No weight is really put on this leg but occasionally she uses it to balance herself. Sometimes it curls around her better leg in an awkward way.  When we called Stamford Animal Control and gave our references, Officer Cobb felt that after talking to our vet staff that we would do all that was necessary to get this darling young 7 pound Poodle/Maltese the care she needed.

On August 24, we travelled up to Windsor Animal Clinic to see a Veterinarian that we have used for Orthopedics for years, Dr. Eric Galster.

After taking a new radiograph view  of Cinderella's leg, Dr. Galster was intrigued by the severity of her problem which doesn't tell if it's genetic or a result of trauma. Right now he will be researching and studying the radiograph to come up with the best plan of action. It just may be that once her leg is opened and revealed on surgery day that all plans may not be in the best interest for this sweet girl and amputation will have to be the last resort.

So until  Tuesday/Wednesday, August 30-31,  Cinderella is eating well and being well cared for.  We know that whatever happens will be the best for Cinderella! Please keep her in your thoughts.

Help us to help her by donating to Cinderella's Fund!

Thanks from all of us here at PRCT!

But she is safe now, and will receive much love in her foster home and the best of veterinary care.

We will keep you posted on her progress.

Urgent Needs

8/31 Update: Cinderella had a pin put in today to stabilize her leg! This is the first step in the process of getting her leg so that she can use it. There will be one to two more surgeries to completely finish the process. We are hoping that all will go well. Thank you Dr. Galster!!!!
Cinderella is resting comfortably with the help of medication.
